About My Single Friend

Mysinglefriend is the site for singles who don’t want to blow their own trumpet, and would rather have their friends say nice things about them, than do it themselves. It’s a novel idea and one that encourages people to be open and unashamed about their online dating intentions. It’s also a site that requires a fair commitment of time to do well. Not just your time, but your friend's time! In return, the site promises quality introductions to other singles looking for serious relationships.

The site encourages both you and your recommending-friend to write at length and really give a full picture of your characteristics and unique appeal. This makes for some full and interesting profiles.

Every profile contains firstly a statement written by the recommending-friend, then a response from the single being recommended. Of course few friends dwell on the bad points! Nevertheless this discursive format does produce interesting insights. If you’re tired of dating sites that have boring profiles or are only about photographs, then this site is a breath of fresh air.

Mysinglefriend was created by TV personality Sarah Beeny back in 2004. Part of her mission at the time was to demystify online dating by encouraging people to talk to their friends about it. This may all seem a bit old-hat in the age of Tinder, but the site still performs a unique function in the market and claims 200,000 active users per month.

The site has a simple but very pleasing layout with nice text fonts and spacing. The profiles in particular are well presented, making members look professional and attractive.

The initial registration process does not take long to complete. However, to use the product properly you are required to get a friend to log on to the site and submit a statement about you. You then need to respond to this statement before your profile is finally complete.

At first glance the quality of the matches on this site looks very high. The profiles are full and well presented. However, one of the frustrations of the site is that it is hard to get an idea of who is really active without paying to become a full member. This may be especially relevant if you are living in a more remote location. How many people in your area will have really gone through the considerable pain barrier of setting up a profile on mysinglefriend?

mysinglefriend is free to browse and search and set up your profile, but any communication with other members comes at a cost. Prices are not expensive, ranging between £13 and £28 depending on the duration of your contract.

All subscriptions will automatically renew unless cancelled up to the day before renewal is due.

Customer Services are available via e-mail and there is a telephone number to call on the press section of the site.
