Pulsate claims to be the first ‘real time’ meet up app. It takes the principle of Happn to its logical conclusion and introduces you to the people you are right next to, there and then. Happn gives you a little more distance that this and introduces you to people after you have passed by them, Pulsate gets you in touch there and then, it even points you in the direction of the bar where other Pulsate users are online.
Pulsate is really aimed square on at sinlges who are out for a night in groups of friends, looking for other singles to hook up with, looking for information about which bars and clubs other singles are in. With enough users online in your town centre Pulsate could be a great way to inject a bit of flirting fun into the most unpromising of nights out with the girls/lads.
This seems like the obvious next step from the Tinder phenomena, but there are reasons that apps have been reluctant to go this far. Not least, the app could prove a little intrusive and make its users feel vulnerable to unwanted attention if they are logged on while out and about. There is a lot to be said for chatting to someone from the safe distance of at least another bar, even if it’s on the same street. Nonetheless, the app brings an immediacy to online dating that many may be tempted by, especially after a few drinks.
