Lovestruck is a fairly simple but appealing site aimed squarely at young professional urbanites and emphasizing match by location; not just where you live, but also where you work. Lovestruck encourages its members to arrange dates around their office place, meeting for lunch or after work drinks. It also helps generate date ideas, with an area in the profile section where members can recommend venues or events to one and other, and with a series of singles events offered to members as well.
Lovestruck is a site that’s biggest unique selling point is its own branding in the market. By selling themselves as the site for urban professionals, they have ensured they are well represented in this group. In addition their offline singles events are now well established in many cities and proving very popular.
Lovestruck is a home grown UK business that started out in 2006 as LunchdateLondon. It was forced to change its name when it realised that most people on its site were meeting up after work, not at lunchtime! So in 2008 it became lovestruck and has been growing fast ever since, spreading out to other UK cities and then to major metropolises around the world, including Hong Kong, Tokyo and Sydney.
Visually it is a very ordinary looking dating site, not that exciting, but very easy to use and with some nice search features, including search by dating ideas.
The registration process is super simple and you can view your matches after the very first page. To communicate with these matches you then need to complete the process. Nothing elaborate is required, only very basic data and then the chance to write a few paragraphs about yourself at the end. One interesting feature, and the unique point about Lovestruck, is that they want to know not just where you live, but where you work as well. Your matches are then generated around both those locations - potentially doubling your chances....
As soon as you are registered on Lovestruck you are able to browse through a long list of profiles and search through them based on who you are best matched with, who is nearest to you and who is online close to you. Matching looks like it is done mainly around the text you write about yourself and a comparison of words within it, so make sure that you put some suitable keywords into your profile.
Most profiles seem to be reasonably full, wiith photos and at least a paragraph about the person. (Possibly Lovestruck does well here by asking for so little. – There are so few set questions that most people feel compelled to write a little bit about themselves in their own words).
Everything is free up to the point of messaging your match. It’s even possible to invite one of your matches to a Lovestruck event without subscribing.
Prices are mid-range in the market with a monthly subscription coming in at between £12 and £40, depending how many months you are prepared to commit to.
All subscriptions will automatically renew until you cancel them.

- Free service is very limited. You have to subscribe to really use the service properly.
